Donna Abandando, in ABC's detective drama NYPD Blue; and Helen Pryor, in NBC's drama American Dreams are among her best-known roles. O'Grady has played her role as the main character in a number of TV movies. She's been nominated three times for the Primetime Emmy Awards. O'Grady has been married six times. She filed for an order of protection in 1995 after breaking up with Robert Claypool, an artist. Gail said he stalked and assaulted her.
